Application Process
Welcome to the official Academic Job Portal of the University of Cologne, which has been designed to be used for your application to vacant professorships (full (W3), associate (W2) or assistant (W1) professorships). The general requirements for an appointment to professorial positions are listed under § 36 Hochschulgesetzes des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (University Act of North Rhine-Westphalia). Specific requirements will be stated in the respective advertisement. The recruitment process will be in accordance with the rules and specifications determined by the Berufungsordnung (Professorial Appointment Regulation) of the University of Cologne. Please contact us if you are uncertain whether you meet these requirements.
Application Process
The tab "Job Vacancies" will show all current vacancies sorted by faculty. After selecting your specific advertisement, you can apply via the "Actions" button. You can click into each section to complete them in any order. Under the tab "Documents" you can provide supporting documents by uploading unencryped PDF-files. The size of the each file should not exceed 4 MB. After submitting your application, you will be automatically informed via email that your application has been received. You may also be asked to upload additional documents after submitting your application.
After the application deadline has expired, the Appointment Committee will view all the received applications to select the candidates who will be invited for a presentation and personal interview to our university. The chosen candidates will be invited personally. All presentations in the selection procedures will be publicly announced according to current legal standards.
At the end of the hiring process, all candidates will be informed.
Privacy Information
The information provided in your application will be recorded during the hiring process and will automatically be deleted at the end of the process according to the German data protection law.
